Also known as Stenodus Leucichthys. This is a semi-anadromous fish of the salmon family (Salmonidae). It inhabits the waters of the Caspian Sea Basin. It is a valuable commercial fish. The basis of the juvenile whitefish's dite are crustaceans, as well as insect larvae. Adults feed exclusively on fish. It has an elongated, spindle-shaped body of silver color, brownish-blue back and a white belly. The dorsal and caudal fins are brownish-gray, all others are gray colored. An adult whitefish can reach 130 cm in length and weigh up to 14 kg.
