The habitat of the Eastern Bream covers the basins of the Black, Caspian and Azov Seas. The Eastern Bream is a schooling type of freshwater fish. It prefers areas of ponds with silted bottom. Algae, worms, insect larvae, snails form the diet of the Eastern Bream. Its body is tall, flattened on both sides. Its head is small. The lower lobe of the tail fin is longer than the upper. Its back is dark-colored. Its sides, depending on age, are either silver or bronze-colored. Adult fish reaches 50 cm in length and up to 5 kg in weight.
